She was nominated for an Oscar first time for her role in the role of wife to Stephen Hawking's in The Theory of Everything. Jones was widely praised for her performance as Hawking's first wife. It was based on the story of Stephen Hawking. Inferno was the second film she appeared in with Tom Hanks. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles gave Jones her the British Artist of the Year in 2016 due to her extraordinary talent and contribution to film.
